The FutureID project builds a comprehensive, flexible, privacy-aware and ubiquitously usable identity management infrastructure for Europe, which integrates existing eID technology and trust infrastructures, emerging federated identity management services and modern credential technologies to provide a user-centric system for the trustworthy and accountable management of identity claims. For this purpose the FutureID project brings together leading industrial and academic experts to design and implement a universally usable open source eID client and a variety of innovative and well engineered backend services, which make it easy to use the FutureID technology in a diversity of services and ecosystems. It may be expected that the provision of the novel, integrative, secure, yet market-compliant FutureID infrastructure will significantly increase the confidence and trust in the use of ICT by EU citizens and businesses. |
